item_of_supply_codification Business Information Overview

The item of supply is the resource item managed by the supply chain. The item of supply could be specified by a Nato Supply Number (NSN) or a product specification.

There are 2 distinct data sets defined in the DEX.

Parts List: - a list of parts that could be exchanged as candidates for codification. The related information required for codification is held in the product design object and related documentation.

Supply Items List: - a list of supply items, specified by either the NSN or product specification. For codified items, the item of supply is used in conjunction with the Nato Item of Supply specification. For non codified supply items, the item of supply object is used in conjunction with the product specification.
