This section provides a high level overview of the business information that can be represented by this DEX. A more detailed overview of the information is described in the Item Identification: Information Requirements section, and a detailed definition of how the information is represented using ISO 10303-239 PLCS is provided in the Item Identification: ISO 10303-239 Representation section.
Information related to Item Identification, including specifications of the item related information is summarized in Figure 10.
The information exchanged is contained within a message that is sent to the recipient(s). The message contains information content for new items to be added to a system, and for existing items to be updated in a system as follows:
The item in Focus is tangible, and is marked with its globally Unique Item Identifier (UII). Additional current item identification information is included in the data.
NOTE The Item in Focus can be an embedded item in a parent item or an end product.
The item’s reference to part design information, reference to item version changes and parent child relationships can be provided.
The information provided for mark(s) that exist and contain information about the item e.g. type of mark, method used for marking, quality of mark, marking responsible, time of marking.
EXAMPLE A mark can be a 2D Matrix containing the Unique Item Identifier (UII) data.
The Item relates to organizations in different roles. E.g. the item may be transferred to an organization as part of a contractual agreement. The Item may be owned by an organization. The item was manufactured by an organization.
Contract identification data related to change of item ownership (acquisition) is referred to in the DEX.
