On analysis, product designs may have the same functions and functional failures implemented with different physical solutions; and the same failure modes with different functions could arise from using the same piece of equipment within different systems. The effects and consequences will be determined, partly by the design of the equipment being analysed and partly by the physical and functional context within which it is used. N matter how it is used or analysed, it is useful to be able to describe and use these sets of information in isolation from the analyses that produced them.

The analyses for determining PSE Behaviour would be conducted as part of the development of the Support Solution and, typically, the information would come from CAD and FMECA systems, such as the RCM Toolkit, and would be used in LSAR B Tables and maintenance management systems, such as UMMS.
