If the iod_view parameter (i.e. the reference data assignment for item) is truly optional, this should be a characterization. If this is really mandatory, the template can remain as it is except that the "optionality" attribute should be reset to "no".

It defeats the object to place this parameter into charcterization. Hence, reset to mandatory.

Redirected to CBIS.This is a template that was created to provide a level of integration between concepts used in Nato Item of Supply Codification and other UK_Defence WP templates currently documented and those still to come. An Item of Design is a type of Item (that is also poorly documented in CBIS). Item of Design (template) is a supertype of the Product Design and Assembly_item templates, which means it saves the unecessary reproduction of the same documentation across both templates.
