Item_of_supply_information Business Information Requirements

This section contains a detailed description of the business level information requirements.

These information requirements are divided into the following four main categories:

Information related to the identification of an item of supply

An item of supply within the Swedish Defence may have one or more identifiers. The following information is related to the identification of an item of supply:

Swedish Defence Item of Supply Identification Code (se-mil: Förrådsbeteckning)
The item of supply identification code, assigned by the Swedish Defence.

The syntax for a "Swedish Defence Item of Supply Identification Code" is an 'F' or 'M' followed by 4 plus 6 digits.

NOTE    The Swedish Defence item of supply identification code is mandatory for all items of supply within the Swedish Defence.

Swedish Defence Item of Supply Short Name (se-mil: Förrådsbenämning)
Abbreviated name for an item of supply assigned by the Swedish Defence. The "Swedish Defence Item of Supply Short Name" is always given in Swedish.

Swedish Defence Item of Supply Long Name (se-mil: Oförkortad förrådsbenämning)
Non-abbreviated name for an item of supply assigned by the Swedish Defence. The "Swedish Defence Item of Supply Long Name" is always given in Swedish.

Swedish Defence Product Reference (se-mil: Referensbeteckning)
The "Swedish Defence Product Reference" for an item of supply includes:

NOTE    A complete "Swedish Defence Product Reference" includes all these three codes, i.e. if used so are all these codes mandatory.

NOTE    An item of supply may have zero, one or many "Swedish Defence Product References".

Supplier Product Reference Identification Code (se-mil: Ritningsnummer)
The Manufacturers/Suppliers identification code for the item of supply.

NOTE    The identification may be a drawing number, a part number, etc.

Swedish Defence Supplier Organization Identification Code (se-mil: Firmabokstavskod)
Identification of the organization which has assigned the "Supplier Product Reference Identification Code".

NOTE    Identifications of the supplier organizations are defined as codes, as defined by the Swedish Defence.

NOTE    A "Swedish Defence Supplier Organization Identification Code" may cover a set of subsidiaries/retailers.

Swedish Defence Product Reference Type Code (se-mil: Referensbeteckningskod)
Defines whether the "Supplier Product Reference Identification Code" is the original, an alternative or an obsolete product reference identification code.

Swedish Defence Item of Supply Foreign Name
The name of the item of supply in a foreign language together with a language code which identifies the language used.

The name of the item of supply in a foreign language.

The language code according to ISO 639-1.

NATO Stock Number (NSN) (se-mil: NATO Artikelbeteckning)
The assignment of an NSN fixes the identity of each distinctive item of supply within NATO. All NSNs are uniform in composition, length, and structure. Each is represented by a 13- digit number, which can be divided into 3 unique parts:

NATO Supply Classification Code (se-mil: NATO klassificeringskod)
The "NATO Supply Classification Code" (NSC) constitutes the first four digits in the NATO Stock Number (NSN). The first two digits of the NSC are defined as the NATO Supply Group (NSG).

National Codification Bureau (se-mil: NATO landkod)
"National Codification Bureau" (NCB) identifies the country that assigned the NSN.

NOTE    The National Codification Bureau constitutes the first two digits in the NATO Item Identification Number (NIIN), which in turn constitutes the second part of the NATO Stock Number (NSN - position 5 to 13).

NATO Non-Significant Number (se-mil: NATO artikellöpnummer)
"NATO Non-Significant Number" is a sequential numbering system for NATO stock items in the context of a specific National Codification Bureau.

NOTE    The "NATO Non-Significant Number" constitutes the second part of the NATO Item Identification Number (NIIN - position 3 to 9). NIIN in turn constitutes the second part of the NATO Stock Number (NSN - position 5 to 13).

NATO Item of Supply Name (se-mil: NATO benämning)
The NATO Codification System (NCS) employs rules for "naming" each item of supply using standard naming conventions to ensure uniformity among users. NCS controls these naming conventions using a dictionary of Approved Item Names.

Swedish Defence items of supply classifications

An item of supply within the Swedish Defence has the following overall classifications:

Swedish Defence Item of Supply Classification (se-mil: Förrådsbeteckningssignal)
An overall classification of items of supply, assigned by the Swedish Defence. This classification distinguishes between "real" items of supply and items of supply which can not be defined by descriptive or reference methods (i.e. can not be purchased as products).

NOTE    Examples of classes of items of supply which can not be defined by descriptive or reference methods are:

NOTE    This classification is mandatory for all items of supply within the Swedish Defence.

NOTE    Items of supply classified as "X" shall be classified as "real" items of supply in this data exchange, with an additional classification described under "Swedish Defence Flight Safety Marker" below.

Indicates whether a "real" item of supply affects flight safety, yes or no. Yes if FREJ Term number 109 has value ="X"

An additional categorization of the item of supply, assigned by the Swedish Defence.

Equipment (outfitting) information

An item of supply within the Swedish Defence has the following characterizations in respect to being defined as equipment to outfit/equip an individual or organization.

Swedish Defence Item of Supply Equipment/Outfitting Classification (se-mil: Materielgrupp)
An overall classification of those items of supply that are part of the equipment needed to outfit/equip an individual or organization.

Defines which of the Services within the Swedish Defence that requires the item of supply to outfit/equip an individual or organization.

An item of supply within the Swedish Defence may have the following technical characterizations.

A textual description of the defined characteristics for the item of supply.

A textual description of additional defined characteristics for the item of supply, which aren't already described in the name, the supplier product reference identification, or within the defining characteristics.

Standards Reference
An item of supply can also be defined by a standard (national or international). A reference to a standard includes the following information:

Swedish Standards Institute Standard Identification (se-mil: Standardblad för svensk standard)
The Swedish Standards Institute identification of a published standard, to which the item of supply conforms.

Type of Standard (se-mil: Standardtypbeteckning)
Defines the type of standard being referenced.

NOTE    Valid values are:

  • E - European standard;
  • I - International standard;
  • O - Regular standard;
  • Ä - Obsolete standard.

NOTE    Type of Standard with value = "A" shall be defined as a deviation as described under "Deviation from Standard Marker" below, and the value for Type of Standard shall be blank .

Deviation from Standard Marker (se-mil: Avvikande standard)
Defines that the item of supply type is close to comply with the specified standard, but with some defined deviations.

NOTE    A "Deviation from Standard Marker" is assigned if FREJ Term number 183 has value ="A". The deviation as such is described in the "Standards Technical Data" field.

Summarized description of the technical data content in the standard which is relevant for the item of supply.

Battery Consumer Marker (se-mil: Batteriförbrukare)
Indicates whether the item of supply requires batteries in order to function, yes or no.

Battery Charger Marker (se-mil: Laddningsfunktion)
Indicates whether an item of supply that consumes batteries includes a built in battery charger, yes or no.

Included batteries

Included batteries consists of a list of batteries, which are effective for the item of supply. The following information describes the relationship and quantities:

Effective Battery Relationship (se-mil: Tillhör förrådsbeteckning)
A relationship between the item of supply under consideration and an item of supply representing the effective battery.

Total number of batteries included in the item of supply, i.e. both those included to make the item of supply function, and extras.

The initial purchase price for the item of supply.

Calendar year for the initial purchase of the item of supply.

End-User Certificate Identification Code (se-mil: CEU-NO)
Identification of any end-user certificate for the item of supply.

NOTE    In normal cases, the end-user confirms the relevant circumstances, i.e. who the end-user is, what the product is, what the product will be used for (end-use), any order or contract numbers, the quantities and an undertaking not to re-export the product without the approval of the originating authorities.

Indicates whether the item of supply should be defined as an asset for a war situation, yes or no.

Package
An item of supply delivered in package has the following information:

Defines the type of package for items of supply delivered in packages.

FREJ Attached Information

In addition to the data defined for the business DEX above, there is also a need to attach additional item of supply information when the DEX is used to export data from the FREJ application. This is due to the application architecture defined within the Swedish defence.

This information will not be described in detail, but will be exchanged using application specific field identifications and their values (i.e. "field_id" and "value").
