Configuration_and_logistics Business Overview

Business Introduction

This DEX is based upon the Navy's requirements for Ship Configuration and Logistics data (SCLSIS) that are used to populate Navy systems employed by several Navy programs of Record (POR) such as the Configuration Data Manager Database - Open Architecture (CDMD-OA).

It will serve as a foundation for data exchange among shipyards, between shipyards, the Navy and Navy IT systems.

Use of STEP AP239, Product Life Cycle Support, to define this data may also serve as the basis for data migration to new IT systems and facilitate archiving.

It is anticipated that this DEX shall help in reducing the total ownership cost by standardizing the data set to be exchanged and through the reduced need of point-to-point interfaces for each new program or system.

The interoperability between the Shipyard systems and Navy systems afforded by this DEX can be illustrated by the figure below.
