schedule Business Overview

Key concepts and intended usage

The UK_Defence Schedule DEX is designed to communicate an intention to perform specified activities, on identified products at identified locations on specific calendar dates.

Activities within a Schedule may be defined by name, number and text description, or by identifying the Task Description on which they are based.

The set of related Task Descriptions do not form part of the Schedule DEX but may be conveyed separately using the Task Description DEX.

A Schedule shall reflect the required timing, sequencing, grouping or other logical dependencies of the activities to be performed.

A Schedule may reference a Plan, or Task List on which it was based.

A Schedule may specify the location at which activities are to be performed.

The Schedule may include a quantified list of the resources allocated to implement the defined activities.

A Schedule, even if approved, is not intended to convey authority to begin work. This is achieved by a Work Order, which can reference any relevant Task, Task List, Plan or Schedule.
