product_baseline Business Information Requirements

The information requirements for product baselines has been defined within the UK_Defence Scoping Document (Version X). The following table lists the correspondance of Business Objects to those requirements:

Information requirement	Business Object(s)
Any set of Product Configuration Information that has been given a status / approval by an organization at a particular time or at a stage of completeness, for a specific purpose. It is a snapshot of the product configuration information at that time.	UK_Defence.configuration_status_record and UK_Defence.configuration_item

In terms of business objects, these information requirements are modelled as shown previously in Figure 2.

From the information model there are four main objects required to represent a Product basline.

Record - preserving the memory or knowledge of facts, activities or events.
Configuration Status record - a (type of) record of the status of the related Configuration Items at a point in time.
Configuration item - the identification of, and the reference to, an item that is subject to formal Configuration Management processes throughout its life. Such processes are typically specified in standards such as DEF STAN 05-57.
Justiftication -the identification of, and the reference to, an item that is subject to formal Configuration Management processes throughout its life. Such processes are typically specified in standards such as DEF STAN 05-57.

There is also number of other objects which may be the subject of a baseline;

Requirement(s) - may be associated with a baseline
Document(s) - may be associated with a baseline
Product Design(s) - may be associated with a baseline
Product Specification(s) - may be associated with a baseline
Product(s) - may be associated with a baseline
