anomaly_reporting Business Information Overview

An Anomaly in a Product can be identified during usage, testing or during maintenance. The anomaly, defined as the inability to perform a required function within the design specification, could be a :

Symptom defined as the manifestation of a potential fault – a detected occurrence/observation. Symptoms can occur without fault.
Fault defined as the divergence from design specification, that may cause a reduction or loss of a required performance.
Defect defined as a fault caused by a failure in design, or manufacture, excluding defects introduced as a result of inadequate or incorrect maintenance activities.

As well as defining the actual anomaly this DEX identifies the product that the anomaly is applicable to and how, e.g. during usage or maintenance activity, and when the anomaly was found.
