In my opinion, the ID of a Product_as_individual (e.g. a serial number) is only valid in the scope of its original desin,
i.e.
it's "type code" or "model number". In order to reference a Product_as_realized, then, I think it is essential to provide
the
ID of the original (or most recent) design. See template representing_product_as_realized for more information about this.
In fact, I don't understand why you can't use the template representing_product_as_realized instead of this one, using
the
default values for the Product_as_individual_view. That would give you the same result (apart from the type code...).
Without further understanding of your requirements here I think this template is unnecessary and could be deleted.
