There are two possible mechanisms to implement the templates required for documents. The first is a mechanism where the document is created within the assignment process. This is how the template was originally constructed. However, it is sometimes necessary to assign an item to a different part of the document model (i.e. a document_version, document_definition or file). In addition, there may be documents that have already been defined and the previous mechanism did not allow for this. The present mechanism is based upon a generic solution, which allows the document_assignment to be assigned to any of the legal document targets (see above). This will require a mechanism to represent the document more fully (inc. the subtypes of digital and physical definitions). Additional templates will allow file constituents to be added to the defined document. The former mechanism could instead be supported with other types of assignment - e.g. assigning_document_version, assigning_document_definition etc., which defines more of the document model representation, but would leave a situation where a document could not be represented without it being also assigned to something.

There will be a set of templates which represents the various document constructs (version etc) that can be assigned.

Rejected. Fille names are not exactly the same if you include the file extension name. However there are editable file for each figure, and naming conventions are the same, except file extension.
