Introduction

This capability describes the creation and status setting of an approval, and the assignment of that approval to a target. This capability also provides for the establishment of a relationship between approvals. Approvals may occur in:

Basic approvals; or

EXAMPLE A person or organization approving a particular thing, process, or activity on a particular occasion.

Complex approvals

EXAMPLE One or more persons or organizations taking part in the same approval or in a series of coordinated approvals (which may have different statuses), perhaps on a series of occasions with respect to one or more approved items.
