ShipLTDR ISO 10303-239 Representation

The following sections provide a detailed description on how to represent the US Navy ShipLTDR DEX using ISO 10303-239 PLCS. This is defined using PLCS capabilities, templates and PLCS reference data.

This definition may be further tailored by specific parties by extending the reference data defined in the PLCS reference data library.

The information to be exchanged by the US Navy ShipLTDR DEX has been summarised in Figure 2 to Figure 6. A summary of how this information is represented in PLCS is provided in Figure 7 and expanded in subsequent sections.

Figure 7 shows:

Template: #0 representing_message - Message
The template representing_message is used to represent a message containing the meta data about the message. This meta data is expected to support the OAIS archiving standard meta data requirements.
Template: #1 representing_part - Part
The template representing_part is used to represent the ship in the archival message and the component parts of interest.
Template: #2 representing_system_breakdown - SWBS
The template representing_system_breakdown is used to represent the SWBS associated with the ship.
Template: #3 representing_system_element - SWBS code
The template representing_system_element is used to represent the SWBS codes as applied to components in the ship.
Template: #4 representing_system_structure - SWBS structure
The template representing_system_structure is used to represent the structure of the SWBS codes.
Template: #5 representing_zone_breakdown - Compartment/Zone breakdown
The template representing_zone_breakdown is used to represent the compartment or zone breakdowns of the ship.
Template: #6 representing_zone_element - Zone
The template representing_zone_element is used to represent the individual zones or compartments within a ship.
Template: #7 representing_zone_structure - Zone structure
The template representing_zone_structure is used to represent the structure of the zones or compartments withing a zone or compartment breakdown.
Template: #8 assigning_document - Assigning general documents
The template assigning_document is used to assign documents to the parts of a ship. It can be used in isolation to assign general documents to the ship or internally within the assigning_cad_model template to assign CAD documents.
Template: #9 representing_digital_document - Document
The template representing_digital_document is used to represent a document associated with the ship.
Template: #10 representing_digital_file - Document file
The template representing_digital_file is used to represent an actual digital file containing the document contents.
Template: #11 assigning_product_property - Assigning property
The template assigning_product_property is used to the properties of the parts. This does not represent the actual values of those properties, these are given by the representing_*_property templates associated using product_property_* templates.
Template: #12 product_property_geometric - Geometric property
The template product_property_geometric is used to identify that a geometric property is associated with a part. A cartesian point that represents the centre of gravity is a type of geometric property assocaited with a part.

NOTE    Product_property_numeric and product_property_text are also available at this point for assigning numeric and textual properties to parts.

Template: #13 representing_geometric_property - Geometric representation
The template representing_geometric_property is used to provide a representation of a geometric property.
Template: #14 representing_cad_model - CAD model
The template representing_cad_model is used to idenity a CAD model as a document and a digital file. It includes the axis placement information to allow Digital Mock Up (DMU) representation.
Template: #15 assigning_cad_model - Assigned CAD
The template assigning_cad_model is used to assign a CAD model to a part both as a document an as an item shape, i.e. property of the part.
Template: #16 representing_interface_definition - Part end
The template representing_interface_definition is used to represent an interface defined on a part, such as the ends of pipes.
Template: #17 representing_interface_occurrence - Part end usage
The template representing_interface_occurrence is used to represent an interface within an actual assembly structure in which the same part definition may be used one or more times.
Template: #18 representing_interface_connection - Part connection
The template representing_interface_connection is used to represent the connection between two actual part ends within an assembly.
Template: #19 representing_assembly_structure - Part structure
The template representing_assembly_structure is used to represent the parent/child relationships between parts of the ship.
Template: #20 assigning_code - Code assignment
The template assigning_code is used to represent the codes assigned to parts within the ship.
