Business DEX (UK_Defence051):— product_location | Date: 2010/03/15 15:15:36 Revision: 1.10 |
The main information requirements of this data exchange specification are to be able to identify a product, including its serial number, part number and NSN, together with the dates between which it is planned to be and actually has been, at a specified geographical location. The main trigger for the creation of such data is when a product is moved. In these circumstances, the new location information is created, and it it is sometimes neccessary to know where the product has come from. Therefore, the sequence of locations needs to be represented. There is potentially an implied sequence that may be derivable from the start and end dates associated with product locations, but relying on these alone could cause significant processing overhead if the data exchange set was large. It would only be possible if all the date information were present and correct. Therefore an explicit sequence relationship is required. Lastly, some applications need to reference to the activity that was responsible for the movement of the product and therefore that relationship has to be represented.
