Aviation maintenance Business Process

ISO 10303-239 Activity model coverage

The ISO 10303 239 PLCS Application Activity Model (AAM) is an IDEF0 representation of the business activities that assist understanding of the scope and information requirements defined in AP239. The model is presented as a set of figures and a set of definitions of the activities and their associated information flows.

This DEX will support a subset of the activities and information flows. These are highlighted in yellow in the subsequent figures.

Activities and information flows that are out of scope of AP239 are marked with an asterisk.

DEX Business application

This DEX enables the transmission of information reporting on maintenance activities that have been undertaken on selected aircraft components and modules. It provides feedback data on removals, repairs, overhauls or rebuilds, installations and gains/losses to the aircraft operators inventory for reportable items.

This information is required by the aircraft operator to effectively manage the reportable items. It is also required by the aircraft suppliers when the aircraft is supplied on a service based contract in order that the supplier can know the configuration and operational status of the aircraft.

The following section outlines some of the activities that are reported by this DEX:

Maintenance activities

The following maintenance activities are reported on by this DEX:

Removal and evacuation
This activity reports when a serviceable or an unserviceable reportable item is removed from an aircraft or component and the item is not reinstalled on the same aircraft or component.
Repair / Overhaul
This activity reports when a serviceable or unserviceable reportable item is removed from an aircraft or component for repair, overhaul, or rebuild.
Installation / Removal
This activity reports when a reportable item is installed on, or removed from an aircraft or component.

Inventory activities

The following Inventory activities are reported on by this DEX:

Gains To Inventory
This activity reports when a reportable item is first placed in the aircraft operators inventory. This includes installed or uninstalled items. For example, when the reportable item is received from the supplier by the operator.
Loss to inventory
This activity reports when a reportable item is removed from the operators inventory. For example, when the reportable item has be decommissioned or transferred to another operator.
