This section provides an overview of how to navigate this set of web pages.

On the top of the page, there is a banner menu shown in Figure 1 From this menu, most of the resources on this site are easily accessed as summarized in Figure 2. This page reveals what is hidden behind each menu item. If you at any point wishes to return to the layout that you first met when you entered DEXlib, just press your browsers 'refresh' button.

Links looking like this lead to other pages within DEXlib (or STEPmod). Links with the full address shown (e.g. (http://www.iso.org)) takes you to external resources.

NOTE    If you're using the XML edition of DEXlib, sometimes you should expect quite long loading times for new pages after clicking on a link. So if nothing happens, wait another ten seconds before clicking another link or restarting your browser.

The content of the banner menu

The "Home" link

This link loads the introductory Help and Information page into the main frame. The contents of the left hand frame are unaffected.

The "DEXs" section

The three links under this banner menu item ('Identifier', 'Name' and 'Number') load folded menus of links to the DEXs into the left hand menu frame. The link selected determines the way in which those folded menus are displayed. The contents of the main frame are unaffected.

The "Capabilities" section

The three links under this banner menu item 'Identifier', 'Name', and 'Number') load folded menus of links to the CapabilitiesA description of how EXPRESS entities are used to represent a given concept (a specific "functionality" or "capability"). It provides guidance and rules on what Entities should be used to represent a given concept, how the entities should be related, and what Reference Data should be used. As well as general guidance, a set of Templates are documented within a Capability to provide precise specifications of which Entities should be instantiated to represent identified concepts. into the left hand menu frame. The link selected determines the way in which those folded menus are displayed. The contents of the main frame are unaffected.

The "Templates" link

This link loads a folded list of Template links into the left hand menu frame and retains the contents of the main frame.

The "Business DEXs" link

This link loads a folded list of Business DEXA Business DEX is a DEX that has been defined outside the OASIS PLCS TC. It is, generally speaking, more business specific and may extend or specialize a PLCS DEX. A Business DEX is defined and managed within a specific Business Context. links into the left hand menu frame and retains the contents of the main frame.

The "Reference Data DEXs" link

This link loads a list of Reference Data library files and links to different views of those files into the left hand menu frame and retains the contents of the main frame.

The "Schemas" section

This link loads a list of schema files and links to different views of those files into the left hand menu frame and retains the contents of the main frame.

The "Test Data" link

This link loads an explanatory page inot the main frame. The contents of the left hand frame are unaffected.

The "Tools" link

This link loads a menu, inot the left hand frome, with links to scripts, logs and listings that are useful during the development of DEXs, Capabilities, and Business DEXs.

The "Help/Information" link

This link loads a folded list of help file links into the left hand menu frame and retains the contents of the main frame.

The "Help TOC" link

This subsidiary link loads a complete table of Contents for the Help and Information pages into the main frame. The contents of the left hand frame are unaffected.

The "Introduction" link

This subsidiary link loads the introductory Help and Information page into the main frame. The contents of the left hand frame are unaffected.

The "PLCS Terms" link

This subsidiary link loads a menu of PLCS terms grouped in alphabetical order in the left hand frame. The contents of the main frame are unaffected.
